280 km from the Caribbean to the Pacific, through the Cordillera de Talamanca, cloud forest and rural Costa Rica.
El Camino de Costa Rica
El Camino de Costa Rica lets you cross the entire country on foot — from Caribbean lowlands, up through the mountains and cloud forest of the Cordillera de Talamanca, and down to the Pacific. Along the way you pass through rural communities who host hikers in their own homes, sharing a side of Costa Rica that no beach resort ever will.
See It For Yourself
The Route
El Camino climbs out of the Caribbean rainforest into the mountains of the Cordillera de Talamanca, then descends through coffee country to the Pacific — 280 kilometers split into 16 stages, each ending in a different community.

Good to know
El Camino de Costa Rica is a continuous, community-built hiking trail that crosses the country from the Caribbean coast to the Pacific coast — about 280 km, split into 16 stages. It passes through rainforest, the Cordillera de Talamanca, coffee-growing highlands, and rural communities that host hikers along the way.
We currently run three guided programs covering the complete 280 km crossing: 12 days (faster pace), 15 days (our most-booked, balanced pace) and 16 days (most relaxed pace, extra rest built in).
It's a genuine multi-day trek, not a casual walk. Expect several hours of hiking a day on uneven terrain, with some longer, more demanding stages through the mountains. Fitness needed depends on which program you choose — our 12-day program covers more ground per day than the 16-day version. We ask about hiking background before confirming a booking so we can recommend the right program.
Yes, when guided. River crossings and remote stretches are exactly why every program includes certified guides, accident insurance, and an evacuation protocol — decisions about weather and river levels are made by people who know the terrain.
Likely, but we never promise it — this is a working trail through real ecosystems, not a wildlife tour. Sightings happen, they're just not guaranteed.

Share your dates, group size, and which program interests you. We'll reply with availability and a detailed proposal — no pressure, no automated quotes.
